Summer Times

Sorry it has been so long since I've updated this blog. My computer has started having trouble reading my digital camera card and the network. Hence, no pictures until now. I need a new computer and have been "considering" getting a laptop later this year.

June was incredibly busy. Aden had baseball camp twice a week, learning the fundamentals of pitching, fielding and batting. Trying to take action shots of our boy from the bleachers, I decided I may need a new digital camera as well since my old one only has 3X zoom. I couldn't get close enough shots of him in the field. (Santa, Baby ... hurry down the chimney).

The end of June was Vacation Bible School. I was the co-teacher of the second and third graders. My kids invited two of their friends which made everything that much more fun. It has taken me about a month, but I've just about stopped humming the VBS songs while I'm at work.

Our daycare offers swimming lessons, so we signed Aden up again. Last year he was a little timid of the water and didn't want to put his face in. This year he's willing to go underwater. Hopefully will be swimming like a fish with lessons next year.

We have had a reprieve from gymnastics for the summer. Classes have been canceled for the last two months because on lack of participation. Actually, I'm relieved. It seems we have been going non-stop.

We bought an inflatable 10 foot wading pool for the backyard. It's been the best $30 we've ever spent and has brought hours of fun. We have invited some friends of Aden and Danielle over for pool parties and consumed gallons of Kool-Aid and many a frozen treat on the front porch.

Scott got a new grill for Father's Day and we purchased new patio furniture right after our Fourth of July cookout with our new neighbors. I've put in some overtime at work to help pay for our major purchases and to help my office make our end of the year production goals. I'm hoping if my office exceeds our fiscal year goals there will be a little extra in my stocking to go toward my new computer or digital camera.

And Scott's brother and his family came down to SC, so Aden and Danielle got to play with their cousins and the brothers got some gaming done (Ark of the Covenant with Aden, and Primordial Soup and Mü).

What else have we been up to:

We registered Aden for Kindergarten and need to get his school supplies.

We registered Aden for soccer this summer with his best friend Jamie.

We are about to register Danielle for dance lessons for the year.

We plan to have a sleep over at our house for Aden and Danielle's best friends this weekend.

Scott is helping me convert my mom's old country and western records to audio files on the computer. We can then make Mom CDs of her favorite songs for her birthday. I tried to find these songs on iTunes and other MP3 sites, and couldn't. More popular Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Pasty Cline, and Loretta Lynn songs are readily available to download from the internet, but songs by Claude Gray, David Houston, Jack Greene, Hank Snow, Sonny James, Wanda Jackson, Lynn Anderson, and Hank Locklin are not. Freeware has helped us convert the songs and has helped take out pops and crackles from the recordings.

Aden bought a Star Wars video game that can plug into our TV with no additional equipment or video game system with his own money. He gets to play for half an hour, and the time always passes too quickly, of course.

Till next time.
