Spring Fever

Soccer ended for both kids in the beginning of this month. Each enjoyed playing this season; however, Danielle seemed to enjoy playing with the grass and dirt more than trying to play soccer. Although we requested for Aden and his best friend to be on the same team, our request could not be accommodated. It worked out okay though. We were out of town when the respective teams played each other. I found myself taking over the duties of Team Mom for Aden's team -- coordinating snack schedule, calling parents for reminders, and getting the end of the season party organized. Scott found himself as an unofficial assistant coach for Danielle's team.

As a family, we attended the Atlanta Ballet's season finale performance of Sleeping Beauty. The kids enjoyed our little road trip and going to the Fox Theater. We attended the matinée performance so there we a lot of other young children in attendance as well. We were very proud of their good behavior. I've indicated in previous posts, Scott and I have a love for the performing arts. Hopefully, our kids will share our passion.

We lost our dog for the second time in a month. Once again, we found the back gate wide open and the dog was gone. There hadn't been enough time from her last disappearance until the most recent Houdini act to get a new ID tag. We hadn't thought to padlock the back gate because we thought her escape last month was just a fluke. Although we have checked with the pound on several occasions, I have little hope in finding her again.

T-ball for Aden started a week after soccer ended. It will be a very short season that will end mid-June before it gets unbearably hot. Most of Aden's teammates are four-years-olds. Aden will be six this month and, with the exception of one girl on the team, stands at least a head taller than the rest of the players. It appears this mini-season is not well organized and I don't think Aden is getting much out of it. Scott and I have both been working with Aden on the fundamentals of the game such as throwing, catching, and batting at home.

Danielle's dress rehearsal and dance recital were this month as well. The number her class performed was "You are My Sunshine". She is definitely our little sunshine. Scott's parents, my mom, and my sister came to the show. Danielle loved the roses she received afterwards. Per her request, we have signed her up for tap lessons next fall.

In a previous post, I was very distraught in not completing Danielle's Easter outfit in time for her to wear Easter Morning. I e-mailed a fellow smocking friend for comfort. Her suggestion was to get it ready for Mother's Day. I found a lime green shirt for Aden and wore a lime suit I already had in the closet. Here are the three of us in our matching Mother's Day outfits.

The school term is almost over. Scott and I took a morning off in order to go to Aden's kindergarten program. All the different kindergarten classes got together to sing us songs and show us what they have learned. We can't wait for summer. Yeah!!

Right after Aden's T-ball game last Saturday, we drove to Scott's parents' house to take the kids strawberry picking at a nearby strawberry field.

Afterwards Scott's dad took the kids fishing.
